You can only go as far as you allow yourself to go. To be successful in the entertainment industry you have to invest time, energy, and money. The larger your investment the greater your chances are for success. A lot of careers have ended or not even started because an artist didn’t have his or her “mind right”. Some of those artists had the belief that someone was going to come along and “discover” them and make them stars. I was with an artist a couple of weeks ago, and I asked her how she planned to promote her finished 6-song EP. Her response was one that I’ve heard before with some new artists. She said, “I don’t have a marketing plan. God’s gonna take care of all that and make me a star.” Just like her, many artists believe they don’t have to do any hard work because “God, Spirit, or the Universe would take care of it”. Some of those artists didn’t take responsibility for their careers. They not only put themselves in positions of powerlessness but they also let the horror stories of people going broke, having breakdowns, being ripped off, or being burnt by the music business diminish their drive. Don’t let the negative experiences of others influence your belief in yourself!
Here is an affirmation to repeat that can help empower your thoughts when you are stuck in a rut and you need to refocus your mind. Repeat this 10 times, and create a shift in your thinking.
I am responsible for all that happens in my life and my music career. I am an overcomer. I am known and my message for the world is heard. I have all the resources for my success. I love myself and I love my life.
